Structure of the Earth

Hello, this term we have been learning about the Earth's structure. I liked making a DLO about the Earths four layers.  I learnt  that the inner core is the hottest inside the Earth. It was fun making a DLO for the Earths four layers. Here is a PMI what I made about the Earth. I liked learning about the EARTH.

The learning behind the task was understanding the Structure of Earth.
I enjoyed learning about the Earth.
I did not like doing the answering the questions on the board.

Is Earth like a hard - boiled egg?

We are learning about what the Earth is like on the outside and the inside. We used hard-boiled eggs as mini-models for the earth. We got to design our own continents and islands on the outside of the egg shell. At the end of the experiment we got to eat the egg!

The egg was so yummy!!!!

Structure of the Earth

Structure of the Earth Facts
We are learning about the structure of the Earth.
I learnt that the Earth is made up of 4 layers. They are the Crust, Mantle, Outer Core and Inner
Core,

Facts about each layer:
Crust - is the first layer of the Earth. It is between 8- 40kms thick and is made of Solid - Brittle
rock .
Mantle - is the second layer of the Earth and it is under the Crust. Also it is rocky and it is the
thickest layer. It is soft and squishy and hot.
Outer Core - is the third layer of the Earth and it is under the Mantle. Also it is very, very hot at
the Outer Core; it is 4000-6000.C and totally liquid.
Inner Core - is the fourth layer of the Earth and it is under the outer Core. It is also very, very
very, very hot down there. It is solid due to the pressure pushing down on it from the other layers
above.
Our group - Mollie, Sunita and Heidi.
First we created a 3D image of the earth using clay and paint.
We then cut the shape in half to show the different layers. After waiting for it to dry, we identified
each layer by painting them in different colours.

Below are some pictures of our work.
